ZOOLOGY RESEARCH CENTRE
The Department of Zoology was recognized as a Research Centre by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli for pursuing research in Zoology on March 2018. Dr. C. Sundaravadivel, Associate Professor of Zoology is serving as the Head for the research centre. At present, three faculty members are approved as Ph.D. guides by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. A total number of six research scholars of which one scholar has submitted their Ph.D. thesis to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli and five scholars are pursuing their Ph.D. degree in various fields of Zoology in our research centre.
Objectives of the Research Centre
- To carry on research in several fields of Zoology such as Aquaculture, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Ecological studies, Entomology, Microbiology, Pathology and Proteomics.
- To seek collaboration with NGO’s, Research Institutions and interns as well as individuals who are interested in research in the various fields of Life Science.
- To establish synergistic collaboration with national and international organizations.
- To compete with the scholars of the national and international community.
- To create awareness of the latest developments in the field of Zoology.
Features of the Research Centre
- The research centre is networked with broad-band internet round the clock and INFLIBNET network of UGC can be accessed
- A research laboratory is equipped with Binocular microscope, BOD incubator, Hot air oven, Incubator, Laminar air flow chamber, Magnetic stirrer, Microtome, Spectrophotometer and sophisticated UV-Visible spectrophotometer for analytical purpose.
