ENGLISH RESEARCH CENTRE
Department of English, Aditanar College of Arts and Science, Tiruchendur was provisionally recognized as a Research Centre to offer Ph. D programme in the academic year 2012 -2013. As on 9.1.2017, 16 members are doing Ph. D research under the guidance of Dr. K. Thanikasalam, Dr. R.Rita Yasodha and Dr. A. Parvathavarthini . Of the 16, 14 scholars are from other colleges. One scholar was awarded the degree after her Viva Voce Examination was conducted in the Research Centre on 08.01.2016.Two have submitted their theses and are waiting for the Viva, and one is about to submit. Five scholars working under guides belonging to other colleges, are working in our Research Centre, of whom Pre Ph. D Viva Voce Examination had been conducted for two scholars.

2. A. Kavitha – An Encounter between the Feminine and the Avante- Garde – A Reading of Margaret Lawerence’s Select Works.
3. C. Shola Fernando – A Post-Colonial Reading of Thomas Kenealy’s Novels : The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith and A Widow and her hero.
M. Phil course was started in the year 2008. Every year M. Phil, scholars submit their project work guided by the staff of the Department of English.
